People who are not involved in farming are very curious and in many cases very badly informed about what life in farming is really like. This Blog is designed as in information medium for everyone who is interested in farming. It will cover everything to do with farming both from an economic perspective and from the perspective of someone who works on a farm every day and makes a living from farming.

 

This farm is a beef producing farm, in other words a farm specialising in converting feed in the form of grass, concentrates, silage etc. to the beef that you eat for your dinner. Ireland has the distinction of producing the worlds best beef from the most common natural commodity ... grass. The animals in the photograph are mature females .. Cows .. and their young calves, born earlier this year. These Cows will continue to produce calves every year and most of these calves will grow up to mature adults and from there get converted into beef.
